    Officer Installation and Awards Dinner

There is no cost to attend, but in order to get an accurate head count, the registration deadline is January 31st.

Our Officer Installation and Awards dinner is a Club tradition where we celebrate the events and accomplishments of the outgoing officers and board members, and welcome our newly elected officers and board members.

At this meeting we also present the Singing Reel and the Big Fish awards. The Singing Reel is chosen by the President and given to a Club member who has made outstanding contributions to the TVFF.  The Big Fish, as the name suggests, is given to the person who has proof of the biggest fish caught during the year.

Please sign up to bring either a dessert or side dish. The Club will provide chicken and tri-tip, as well as non-alcoholic beverages.   We encourage you to bring your family members to this event. Please be sure to include them as guests when you sign up.

Yuba River Skwala Hunt at Hammon Grove

    Skills Level:

    Wading:  Easy to moderate

    Catch Rate:  Challenging

Hiking:  Easy to Moderate as you are walking on cobblestones near the water

The Lower Yuba River is famous for its winter dry fly fishing. Along with PMD’s, Brown Duns, BWOs, and midges the Skwala stonefly is a highly anticipated hatch.  The Yuba Skwalas are unique with their spicy mustard or golden olive coloring. This hatch can bring out aggressive, educated wild rainbows proving exciting as well as challenging angling.

Our Skwala Hunt on the Yuba will be a one day event at Hammon Grove Park below the highway 20 bridge. The river has easy and level access, so it's ideal for those less comfortable in heavy current wading situations. The flow on the river can vary depending on storms and releases from the dam. A wading staff is highly recommended!  There are many different accessible areas on the river so it lends itself to indicator nymphing, Euro nymphing, streamers, dry fly fishing, and throwing streamers.

Picnic tables and a portable restroom are available at Hammon Grove and we will meet there.  After rod setup and a briefing regarding the current water situation, we will head down to the river.  We will meet at the picnic tables for lunch and a short break before resuming fishing in the afternoon.  Hammon Grove is a 2 hour and 20 minute drive from the Pleasanton - Livermore area and it allows for a good single day outing and to be home by early evening.

    Cost:

Credit Card price: $25.75 per TVFF member for the benefit of our new members (only).

Guests must first register as Club members ($45 annual charge) before registering for this event.  TVFF annual dues qualify you and your qualifying family members (spouse and children under 23) for a full 12 month membership and access to all Club events and full participation.  After registering as a Club member, the above costs for the event will apply.

    Fishmeister: Denis Haire, 925-360-3993

    Accommodations and Food:

Due to its close location there shouldn't be a need for overnight accommodation's, unless you plan to stay over and fish another day.

Lodging is available nearby in both Grass Valley (19 miles away up highway 20) or in Nevada City (another three miles up from Grass Valley) for those looking for a hotel.

Each individual is responsible for their own food for lunch and accommodations if they choose to stay in the area.

    Gear and Tackle Recommendations:

Yuba River fish are notoriously "hot" and frisky. They workout full time in the strong current and just love to play in it when disturbed by a sharp hook. Anticipate that you will see strong runs on hookups and that the fish will feel like they are 4-6" larger than you see in the net. So...

Rod & line weights/types: 5 or 6 weight rods, reels and floating lines are the norm to help control their runs. A 4 weight for Euro Nymphing should work well as long as it has a good stiff butt section to manage any runs.

Leaders and tippet: Fishing style dependent but normally I fish a 9’ 4X leader and adjust with added tippet of up to 4-6’ of 5 for the dry flies, and stick with 4X fluoro for the nymphs.

Other gear: Note that we won't be using any watercraft as this is a walk and wade event with float takeouts way too far downstream to be of use for us.

Flies: Flies to match and we will send out a more current list as we get closer to the dates and better understand how the weather and water are impacting the hatches. Typically at this time of year you will need Skwala and Golden Stonefly nymphs, Baetis/Blue Wing Olives,  and four varieties of Caddis.  Pheasant Tail and Hare's Ear nymphs are always well appreciated by Yuba River fish.

    TVFF Cancellation Policy:

To sign-up for a TVFF Event  that is currently open for registration and chargeable (as set by the Fishmeister), you must both register and pay online, or via check or cash, within two weeks of registering (sent to the TVFF Treasurer) whatever fee is described for that particular Event (trip) at the time of registration. There may be multiple payments required before the trip is actually taken (usually in the case of expensive trips), but it is necessary that you do make payment in the above timely fashion for the initial amount to secure your position on the trip.  However, please note that you are still responsible for the entire amount of the trip if you should need to cancel.

Once you are registered, there are no refunds for chargeable Events and trips.  In the situation that a member is, for any reason unable to attend, they may resell their registration slot to another TVFF member (by first pulling from the waitlist if one exists).  New participants must come first from the waitlist in the order they signed up.  The member cancelling is fully and solely responsible for contacting potential members to replace them and notifying the appropriate Fishmeister.

If an event/trip is fully registered and closed to registration, you may still sign up on the Wait List to be notified if there are any cancellations.  In such a case of registering provisionally on the Wait List, you do not have to pay until such time that you clear the Wait List and are confirmed for participation.

    Gear and Tackle Recommendations:

White Pines Lake is best fished using a stillwater approach. The lake is populated with trout, bass and even crappie.

The lakes allow for some dry fly fishing in the early morning on the shorelines, but mostly either indicators or streamers during the day with leeches, midges, and callibaetis patterns.

Rod & line weights/types: 4 or 5 weight rods, reels and floating or intermediate lines are more than enough.

Other gear: It is recommended to utilize a watercraft.

Flies: Effective flies include wiggle tails, wooly buggers and small nymphs in olives, browns and black.

    COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Protocol

TVFF Outings Policy as of September 20, 2020

As a club, the Tri-Valley Fly Fishers have developed and agreed to a set of required guidelines, protocols and rules in order to help direct our members on ways to stay safe on one-day outings, multi-day outings, or individual “Tag-Alongs”.

TVFF Outings protocols are as follows:

    • If you are sick with cold/flu symptoms then we ask you to please stay home
    • Everyone will be responsible for making, bringing, and consuming their own separate food and drinks
    • All attendees should wash and sanitize their hands frequently

    Event Skill Levels:

    • Stream: beginner to advanced (some highly technical water)
    • Lakes: beginner with float tubes to prams,  some accessible shore fishing for lakes
    • Wading: intermediate in riffles with light slippery medium rocks
    • Hiking: beginner and flat with maximum 2 mile optional hikes
    • Catch success rate: good for beginners at Baum Lake, advanced at Hat Creek

This is a 3 night-4 day trip to explore  the 3.5 miles of fishable wild trout water at Hat Creek.  Arrive on the first day with late evening fishing, then three full days of fishing to follow. It is scheduled for the traditional large Salmonfly and Golden Stonefly hatches that occur during this period, as well as several other hatches. We will be fishing five different areas on Hat Creek from knee deep riffles at the Powerhouse and mid-stream to the gin clear, quiet flats, and to the downstream area of thigh deep water. This is a wading trip, although it is recommended to stay out of the water unless absolutely necessary as the fish are very skittish due to the fishing pressure. It is barbless hook, catch and release water only.  Fishing styles can include Euro nymphing, streamers, and indicators in the riffles, with dry fly presentations on the flat water.

The trip will encompass the Powerhouse 2 riffles in the early day followed by late morning dry fly activity (Stoneflies, PMD's, Little Yellow Sallies) below the riffles in the flat water to rising fish.  Mid-day will shift to the mid-stream shallow riffles for high sticking/euro nymphing, or indicator fishing.  Late in the day we will continue moving downstream to the meadow area for the Salmonfly hatch.

This is a combination wading and optional watercraft (days 3 & 4) trip and will require moving around frequently with some hikes of a maximum of about 2 miles in some areas. Individuals can choose to fish specific areas rather than transit between them during the day.

The 3rd and 4th days will be on Baum and/or Manzanita lakes depending upon whether "ice out" has occurred at Lassen National Park.  It is recommended to utilize a watercraft on both lakes, although fishing can be and is often successful from the shore locations as we did last year.

We will be leaving early AM from the Tri-Valley,  with stops in Redding at The Fly Shop for last minute supplies/flies as well as for gas and a lunch to eat in the car.  That will get us to check-in some five hours after leaving the Tri-Valley and put us on the water the first evening ready for the late afternoon/early evening caddis hatch at Carbon bridge.

    Cost:

Participant hotel and camping accommodations and food are extra; approximately $100 - $350 depending upon your choice of accommodations and food. And don’t forget your contribution to The Fly Shop’s continuing success…Camping is also available (see below).

Cost: The cost is $25.75 and you may pay by credit card, directly online with your registration.

Family Policy:  Spouses and family members under the age of 26 years old are included in each member's annual membership, and can attend events at no cost, unless TVFF has supplemental costs (such as guide or facility fees) for the event.  In such cases, each attendee must pay the appropriate event cost listed above.

Guest Policy:  Guests must first register and become members of TVFF.

    Fishmeister: Rob Farris, RFFarris@comcast.net, (925)286-5502

Accommodations and Food: Lodging is available nearby in Burney, CA which is inexpensive and about $125 per night.  I recommend the Green Gables if you won’t be camping. It is rudimentary but quite clean and comfortable.

Camping is available in the area at several locations, including Burney Falls State Park (about 10 miles away) which is fully developed, Hat Creek Hereford RV Resort (between Baum/Hat Creek and Manzanita Lakes about 9 miles away, and my personal recommendation) and there is also camping at Baum Lake’s PG&E dirt campground (rustic) 4 miles south of where we will be accessing Hat Creek in the mornings.  Rob will be camping at Hat Creek Hereford Ranch RV Resort, serving as the primary Club gathering location during our time.  This campground offers grass campsites for both tent and trailers with on-site showers, horseshoes, basketball, volleyball, and a chargeable trout pond on premise, and suits itself very nicely for families (which are always welcome on Club trips).

Each individual is responsible for their own food and accommodations.  Burney only has a few good restaurants and most close before 9 pm, so if we are out late it will be a challenge that leads us to either the local steakhouse (more expensive), a good local Mexican restaurant, the local Indian Casino (not much) or the bowling alley (pick your poison). There are also gas grills available at the Green Gables hotel which I have used before when I brought along food to cook.

Breakfast is available in town at a reasonable café that is good. Be sure to bring a lunch for each day as we will not be returning to town after leaving in the morning. There is a Safeway in town that does prepare their normal Signature sandwiches and salads unless you wish to bring your own lunches for the trip.

    Gear and Tackle Recommendations:

Rod & line weights/types: 4, or 5 weight rods, reels and floating lines for Hat Creek.  5 and 6 weight rods for the lakes with both floating and sinking lines.

Leaders and tippet: Hat Creek:  Fishing style dependent but normally I fish a 9’ 4X leader and adjust with added tippet of up to 4-6’ of 5 or 6X for the dry flies. Depending upon the weather we also hit a Trico hatch in early morning in which case you will need 7X for the #22-26 flies. Euro nymphing rigs (i.e. mono rigs) will also be useful in the riffles.  The Lakes: usually a 8-10' 3X leader (for indictor styles) with 4X tippet should suffice, and a 4-6' 2 or 3X leader if you wil be pulling streamers.

Other gear: Note that no float tubes are allowed on Hat Creek in the wild trout section.

Flies: Flies to match and we will send out a more current list as we get closer to the dates and better understand how the weather and water are impacting the hatches. Typically you will need Salmonflies and Golden Stonefly dries and nymphs in sizes 8-12, various nymphs (complete list to follow), and an assortment of dry flies in sizes 14-18’s (list to follow as well). The fish are very picky and this is noted as a technical spring creek type fishing environment with dry flies, so fly matching with either dries or emergers is important, as are long leaders (up to 12 or 14’) with excellent presentation skills in the flat water.  Euro nymphng is alos very successful in the Powerhouse riffles.  The lakes allow for some dry fly fishing in the early morning on the shorelines, but mostly either indicators or streamers during the day with leeches, midges, and callibaetis patterns.

8th Annual TVFF Truckee Watershed Camping Trip

    Event Skill Levels:

    • Stream:  beginner to advanced (some optional euro pocket water)
    • Lake:  beginner with float tubes to prams, little accessible shore fishing at Milton (optional)
    • Wading: intermediate level in riffles with slippery medium rocks, advanced in pocket water
    • Hiking: beginner and flat with maximum 2 mile optional hikes
    • Catch success rate: intermediate to advanced skills required

This is the annual TVFF Club 3 night-4 day camping trip headquartered at Logger Campground, Stampede Reservoir with three days of fishing the Big Truckee, and Little Truckee and Prosser Creek for rainbow, brown trout, Lahontan Cutthroat, and Kokanee Salmon. It coincides with the peak of multiple aquatic hatches in the area (see the hatch chart; Truckee hatch chart ), and will include river wading opportunities. Fishing techniques to be used include traditional indicator nymphing, Euro nymphing, streamers, and dry fly techniques.  Day 1 is a travel day with late evening fishing.

Registration is expected to be large so the camping group may be split up to fish the various locations during each day as to not crowd each other. We will be fishing the Big Truckee at Glenshire, Boca, Prosser Creek and downstream in the Farad area with access via a 2 mile riverside trail. We will also be splitting into smaller groups to fish the Little Truckee on the main river in three separate locations, as well as the Boca inlet and Cave Rock. I will be asking a few folks to be assistant Fishmeisters on the trip for each group, and we will be providing maps as well.  And then we'll play musical chairs and shift the groups to new locations each day with full reports that evening over beer and scotch around the campfire.

Hatches during this period are profuse and varied.  We will see Golden Stones, PMD's, Pinkies, some Caddis, and usually a good large Green Drake hatch.  You may want to stop in Mountain Hardware in Truckee (an excellent selection of local guide tied flies) to check on their excellent reports and  superb fly selection, as well as anything else you may need for the week.  In addition there is a new fly shop in downtown Truckee that is well stocked.

    Cost:

Participant hotel and camping accommodations and food are extra; approximately $100 - $350 depending upon your choice of accommodations and food.  Camping is also available (see below).

Guest Policy:  Guests must first be members of TVFF and sign the TVFF Liability Waiver on the member application.

    Fishmeister:  Rob Farris, RFFarris@comcast.net. (925)286-5502.

    Accommodations and Food:

Campsite Reservations: You should make your campsite reservations now, as Logger CG books up quickly every year.  I will be camping for the three nights in campsite #109.  It is a large site and I can accommodate up to four tents on the site.  The first three attendees that email me with their portion of the site cost will have a reserved site..

For those not on the list above or bringing an RV/Motorhome, you may want to secure a campsite at Logger Campground ASAP.  My site is located in the loop close to the kiosk check-in station and restrooms. Campsites are priced based on the number of campers and/or trailer access.

This campground on Stampede Reservoir (just above the Little Truckee) is quite popular and fills up quickly, so you should make your reservations as soon as possible to secure a site. The reservation site is listed below, as are the maps availability links.

Each individual is responsible for their own food, however we are planning for a group potluck the first evening and will be share current conditions, gear, flies, etc.  Requested menu offerings will be distributed later.

    Gear and Tackle Recommendations:

Rod & line weights/types: 4, 5 or 6 weight rods, reels and floating lines

Leaders and tippet: Fishing style dependent, but normally I fish a 9’ 4X leader and adjust with added tippet of up to 4-6’ of 5 or 6X for the dry flies.  The Truckee is home to large browns so if you plan on throwing some streamer meat you'll want a 5 or 6 weight rod as the current flow can require a stouter rod.  Lake fishing will be dependent upon your style as well, but a 5 or 6 weight rod will normally suffice.

Other gear: Standard waders, boots, and wading staffs and normal fishing wear.

Flies: Flies to match hatches above and we will send out a more current list as we get closer to the dates and better understand how the weather and water are impacting the hatches.

    TVFF Cancellation Policy:

Yellowstone National Park Volunteer Fly Fishing Program - 2026

Note that this is not a sponsored TVFF trip; it is notification for those interested in volunteering their service and working for YNP during the program.  All expenses are the responsibility of each participant.

This opportunity is for high level intermediate and advanced fly fishers only.  It requires considerable hiking, backcountry, and deeply skilled fly fishing experience. The skills to assist the Native Fisheries Program Manager and Park biologists with native fish restoration and sustainability in Yellowstone National Park waters are critical elements to the success of the program.

We are fortunate once again to have been invited back to participate in the Yellowstone National Park Native Fisheries program for 2026, based on our past successful efforts and concern for the Park’s native fisheries.  This conservation work program will provide opportunities for up to six (6) individuals to participate from August 14 -20, 2026.

Registration on the TVFF website will open at 8:00 PM on January 6th for one (1)  available participant for 2026.

Waitlist registration will close on January 16, 2026 due to YVFFP needs to complete volunteer program staffing, so please register by the 16th to be considered.

The Park ultimately determines each year's participants and personally invited each of last year's six attendees based on last years experience.  This is not a sanctioned TVFF outing and focuses on specific volunteer conservation work.  Currently we have five (5) of last year's participants committed to return in 2026, however we have one open slot to add an individual who meets the rigorous requirements for the trip.   If you are interested in 2026 you must register on the waitlist to be considered and selected for the remaining slot.  As we know, “life happens” and there can be cancellations, so please register on the waitlist if the registration list appears full (like Rob throwing his back out again).

Please carefully read the following necessities to participate in the trip if you are interested, as they will be the determining factor on who will be selected to attend.  The additional individual for 2026 will be selected and recommended by last year's team consisting of the previous attendees with final validation and acceptance by the Yellowstone Volunteer Fly Fishing Program Manager.

Once again the volunteer program will is anticipated to return to Grebe and Wolf lakes in the Yellowstone backcountry where we will be camping for four days.  It is not for the faint of heart, and will involve significant hiking of up to 30 miles total over the four days.     We are not sure of exactly where we will be fishing each day in support of the program, so strong familiarity with all types and styles of fly fishing are a necessity (creeks, large rivers, lakes, dry, dry dropper, euro, indicator, and streamer, etc.).  Also please be aware that you will be fishing in areas heavily populated with wildlife including bison, bears, wolves, moose, nasty badgers, mountain lions, and others so familiarity with safety requirements and bear spray is a must.

    Program Requirements:

This is a very rigorous trip, and you should think carefully about whether it is suitable for you this summer.  The following are some key elements to evaluate in your consideration as to whether to register for this trip:

    • This year's trip will also encompass a three day high elevation pre-backcountry training session for acclimation and lakes training.  You will need to commit to a total of 7 days for this program, without travel.
    • This includes a 4-day back-country hiking trip of over 30 miles, and although the Park animals will carry our camping gear in and out, you are responsible for carrying your fishing gear including the extended hiking trip to Wolf Lake.  Each day will require about 6-8 miles of total hiking and about ten hours of fishing before returning to camp for the evening.
    • The trip takes place in country frequented by bears, elk, moose, “bad badgers” and wolves.  This requires everyone to be “bear aware” and experienced with carrying bear spray and animal avoidance.  Training on this is provided before the trip.
    • Due to its location, we only enjoy (lol!) dehydrated meals (with light snacks) and carry only toiletries that are odorless.  Weight loss is an expected benefit.  Food and toiletries must be hung from the bear crossbars at night with no food or snacks allowed in the tents.
    • You will need to be fully self-sufficient and experienced with back-country camping (no Airbnb facilities available for many, many miles…, sorry!).
    • You will also need to be fully competent and experienced in all fly-fishing styles including dry fly, dry droppers, indicator nymphing, naked nymphing, potentially euro nymphing, and streamers.  This is not a “guided” trip, so you are expected to be fully capable in searching, determining proper setups, selecting your own flies, and completing the day’s activities on your own while maximizing safe catch and release processes.  While our trip is scheduled for the lakes, it may be relocated to other non-stillwaters for trip re-adjustments due to weather, wildlife issues, fire, Park demands and biologist requests, etc. and hence the need for accomplishment with multiple fly fishing styles and skills.
    • You should very strongly consider an intensive program of winter and spring conditioning to equip yourself for the rigors of this trip.  Be aware that all locations are from 7-8,000 feet in elevation, and you should be prepared for frequent weather changes including heat, cold, rain, wind, and potentially snow at that altitude.
    • This year’s trip will also require a 3-day pre-backcountry session to participate in high elevation conditioning as a group.  We will fish similar lake situations with appropriate hiking as “spring training” in Yellowstone for the outing.  This means that the trip will be for a minimum of eleven (11) days, although we all usually extend for post-trip fishing around the Park, or in the Grand Tetons based upon individual desire.
    • Each individual is responsible for all transportation, lodging, licenses, and food expenses for the trip as this is a full volunteer effort.  In addition to those confirmed to participate a fee of $51.50 per individual is required and is donated to Yellowstone Forever.

Please note the following recommended considerations from the Yellowstone Volunteer Fly Fishing Program Director for those planning on participating:
    1. "Your Health and Conditioning:  You must be able to hike at least 3 miles with moderate elevation gains, at a moderate pace.  If you volunteer and cannot do this, you'll force the rest of our group to proceed more slowly, causing us to take more time to reach our fishing destinations and therefore leaving us with less time to fish and to collect our data.
    2. Your Fly-Fishing Ability: YFFVP volunteers will, ideally, be proficient fly fishers with all-around skills.  This program is not intended for fly-fishing beginners.  And it is not a "guided" fly fishing trip.  Are you competent fishing dry flies, wet flies, nymphs, and streamers both in still-water environments as well as rivers and creeks?  We need to catch as many as possible, to provide Yellowstone's biologists with as much data as possible.  So, if you're a fly fisher who only fishes dry flies, you won't be able to contribute if the fish are only eating nymphs.  And vice versa.  This is true for all the fly-fishing disciplines.
    3. The YFFVP is Not a Normal Fly-Fishing Trip: We often fish designated sections of rivers and creeks which are shorter in length than we'd normally fish with a group of anglers outside the program.  We will fish very close to each other (spatial etiquette is not important among members of our YFFVP group).  We will be limited to where we can fish, so you can't decide to leave our beat or move to another location without the group.
    4. You're Donating to Yellowstone's Native Fish: The YFFVP's budget is small.  We cannot provide or pay for housing for our volunteers.  You must pay for your own lodging to participate in the program.  YFFVP volunteers are also expected to pay for their Yellowstone National Park entrance fees, fishing license, food, drinks, and any other expenses incurred while participating in the program.
    5. You need to Be Flexible: The YFFVP is constrained by many factors:  weather, water conditions, dealing with wild animals, safety concerns, and other things.  While we do our best to provide you with as much information as possible at the earliest dates possible, things that are beyond our control will force us to change plans.
    6. You need to Be Committed to the Program:  None of us know with certainty what will be occurring in our lives during the summer of 2026.  Plans change.  Life happens.  But please do not apply for next year's program unless you are sure, with the information you have at this time, that you'll be able to participate.  Some volunteers with the best of intentions will most likely have to cancel next year.  That's ok.  But no one should apply unless they are planning to participate. “

    Registration and Costs:

Registration is currently open for qualified fly fishers for 2026 and those on the waitlist.  Your final selection and registration secures your working position for the program once your non-refundable deposit is submitted ($51.50) Our trip costs will be donated to the Native Trout program with Yellowstone Forever at the conclusion of the program.

    TVFF Cancellation Policy

Outing Basic Requirements

Membership:  You must be a TVFF member with a signed Liability Waiver on file to attend an outing.

Personal Flotation Device Requirements: In addition, “Each participant shall wear a Coast Guard approved protective safety flotation device (PFD/SFD) at all times while boarding, disembarking or on board the watercraft” and those Outings where participants use owned, rented or loaned watercraft such as, but not limited to, boats, canoes, kayaks, prams, pontoon boats and float tubes.

The requirement applies to participants in any Guided Float Trip, and is also strongly recommended if you are wading challenging waters.

Guest Requirements

TVFF welcomes guests on many of its outings throughout the year. If you plan on inviting a guest please contact your Fishmeister who will advise you of any additional requirements for guests. Note that ALL guests must sign the Club’s Liability Waiver in order to attend an outing. The waiver is available on the website Member’s Page, and must be signed and sent one week in advance of the Outing to the Club’s Treasurer at TVFF, P.O. Box 2358, Livermore, CA 94551.

Cancellation Policy

Effective Date: October 3, 2019

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Protocol

TVFF Outings Policy as of September 20, 2020

As a Club, the Tri-Valley Fly Fishers have developed and agreed to a set of required guidelines, protocols and rules in order to help direct our members on how to stay safe for one-day outings, multi-day outings, or individual “Tag-Alongs”.

These protocols were developed by the TVFF Board of Directors with input from other local clubs, which included a member virologist, various safety committees, and member experts. We feel that these protocols and guidelines are consistent with public health information and experts. These protocols are assured, observed, and enforced by outing leaders as well as members themselves. Extra masks, spray disinfectant and sanitizer are available from the outing leaders.

Please note that the Tri-Valley Fly Fishers accepts no liability for inadequate protection or the transmission of Covid-19 among members or guests. Therefore, each member should review the following protocols that the Club subscribes to and make an individual decision of whether to participate in an activity or not, based upon their individual circumstances and requirements for personal and family member safety.

TVFF Outings protocols are as follows:

  • If you are sick with cold/flu symptoms then we ask you to please stay home
  • All attendees should drive up and back alone unless you are in a mutually agreed social bubble where both parties have been tested negative and agreed to the risk (such as family members)
  • On all outings the Club will have available and use an infrared thermometer for temperature checks
  • We believe in social distancing and require that all members keep a full fly rod distance of at least 6’ distance between parties
  • We ask that all parties wear masks if within 6’ even if only briefly. Note that the CDC has not recommended the use of buffs or gaiters as the material is not thick enough for adequate protection.
  • Everyone will be responsible for making, bringing, and consuming their own separate food and drinks
  • When camping all members and guests are required to use separate camping tents, or rooms when hotels are arranged
  • Please handle your own gear (and your own fish!) only. No sharing for doctored fish pictures.
  • In the event that there are common surfaces (i.e., car surfaces, door handles, etc.) please wipe them down with sanitizer or hand wipes
  • All attendees should wash and sanitize their hands frequently
