Please be aware that our next meeting will be on Wednesday July 10th at 7:00 PM to accommodate those that had family plans the week of the Fourth of July and our normal meeting date, which would have been on July 3rd.
This month we have a special advanced “clinic” on “Prospecting” for trout. While we couldn’t get our first choice as a speaker (and the four other guides discussing the topic from different perspectives) from their perch in Central Pennsylvania, we will be using their recent Podcast as the backbone for our meeting and lively discussion. Rob will be moderating the discussion, and we will be pausing periodically to discuss and gain our member’s thoughts and inputs as well:
“Prospecting is a strategy for covering water. It’s about pace. The truth is, we’re searching for something on every cast, no matter what our approach is. But what we call prospecting is a bit different. It’s about canvassing an area, casting a wider net, searching for that next fish and then the next one. Then we take that data about where and how trout are feeding, and we use it to inform our next decision.”
The subject matter will cover what, when and how to prospect on streams and rivers (their specialties), as well as techniques and specific applications for dry fly, nymph (and Euro), streamer, and wet fly styles. It’s an engaging hour with laughs, and some very detailed tactical elements to improve our fishing success rates. See you on the 10th…
