Event Description: All participants are required to have had the COVID vaccine at least 2 weeks before trip.

Fishing Montana and Yellowstone National   Park for Cutthroat, Rainbows, and Browns.   We will be fishing the Madison, the   Beaverhead, the Ruby River and others in the area.  We will choose where to fish to ensure that each day is successful.  We will be walking in, wading (wet it’s warm enough) and have the option of many different sections of the river to fish.

The trip includes lodging from Saturday night to the following Saturday morning. It also includes all meals, licenses and flies for the trip and pickup and drop off at the airport (West Yellowstone) if needed. This is a non-guided trip but Jim fishes with the group each day to make sure everyone is having a good time and catching fish.

This is a wading trip into occasionally fast waters so not for the tentative wader.

Any questions at all or if others who have gone before have some good insights to share, do not hesitate to email or call.

Cost:  Cost:  $1,700 per person including all food, drinks, lodging, license, flies & hosted by Jim Roberts. The trip includes all meals with dinners at the house and lunches on the river.  The food is great and plentiful and no one will go hungry.  A 50% deposit is required to hold the trip and total payment is due by July 1, 2021. Make checks out to TVFF and please send to our PO Box 2358, Livermore, CA  94550.  If you have to cancel Jim will do his best to find a replacement and if one cannot be found he will refund 50% of your deposit.  Additional costs: air or surface transportation to Montana.  Fly Delta Airlines into and out of West Yellowstone airport and is approximately 20 minutes from the house.   Transportation to and from the airport in Montana is provided.  Generally, everyone flies together unless you want to spend additional time in the area.  As you make your reservations, please send me your info so that I can coordinate pickup times at the airport.

Driving:

Should you decide to drive and I have in past years, here are the driving directions to the house. The address is 20 Manor Way in West Yellowstone. It does not show up on some GPS so here are the driving directions. 80 East to 93 North. Go through Twin Falls and the go east on 84/86 to Pocatello. Go North on 15. Take 20 to West Yellowstone. Go north on 191 towards Bozeman. About 15 miles out of West Yellowstone turn left on 287. Go about 10 miles and you will see Mountain Lookout Bar and Grill on the right. The house is just across the street.  The house is fully equipped so no need to bring towels or bedding.  The house has WIFI and it works very well if you need to stay in touch.

Fishmeister:  Marty Loomis, mjloomis@comcast.net, (510) 514-4703

Accommodations and Food:  All lodging and food is provided.

Montana License Requirements:

Use this link to get your Montana license on-line.

https://app.mt.gov/als/index/index.html

I would recommend that you do it prior to arriving in Montana otherwise you will go down to the local marina and deal with their slow internet connection.   Jim will reimburse you for the cost.  If you remember your ALS number from past years, on-line goes real fast, if not, just email Montana Fish & Game and they should be able to find it for you.  That’s what I did a couple years ago.  We will need an additional license if we fish in the park but that will be done at one of the local fly shops.

Gear and Tackle Recommendations:

Sunglasses

Camera (there will be critters)

Wading staff (some of the wading can be pretty damn tough)

Waders and boots (no felt), most wet wade on past trips. (not me)

Hat

The weather is usually in the 70s but it can rain any day so bring a jacket.

Water Bottle

Rod & line weights/types:

5 or 6 weight rods with 9-10’ lengths and floating lines are the recommended setup, as are high stick nymphing approaches.  If you wish to fish streamers a sinking line will work well. Fly’s are provided by Jim.  We will mostly be high sticking during the week.  Basic stuff like Princes, Adams. It's not too complicated up there. Jim has a specific way to rig rods so don’t bother with pre-rigging.

TVFF Cancellation Policy:

To sign-up for a TVFF Event  that is currently open for registration and chargeable (as set by the Fishmeister), you must both register and pay online, or via check or cash, by July 7, 2021 (sent to the TVFF Treasurer) whatever fee is described for that particular Event (trip) at the time of registration. There may be multiple payments required before the trip is actually taken (usually in the case of expensive trips), but it is necessary that you do make payment in the above timely fashion for the initial amount to secure your position on the trip.  However, please note that you are still responsible for the entire amount of the trip if you should need to cancel.

Once you are registered, there are no refunds for chargeable Events and trips.  In the situation that a member is, for any reason unable to attend, they may resell their registration slot to another TVFF member (by first pulling from the waitlist if one exists).  New participants must come first from the waitlist in the order they signed up.  The member cancelling is fully and solely responsible for contacting potential members to replace them and notifying the appropriate Fishmeister.

If an event/trip is fully registered and closed to registration, you may still sign up on the Wait List to be notified if there are any cancellations.  In such a case of registering provisionally on the Wait List, you do not have to pay until such time that you clear the Wait List and are confirmed for participation.

Tri Valley Fly Fishers

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Protocol

TVFF Outings Policy as of September 20, 2020

As a club, the Tri Valley Fly Fishers have developed and agreed to a set of required guidelines, protocols and rules in order to help direct our members on ways to stay safe day, multi-day outings, or individual “Tag-Alongs”.

These protocols were developed by the TVFF Board of Directors as well as input from other local clubs which included a member virologist, various safety committees, and member experts. We feel that these protocols and guidelines are consistent with public health information and experts. These protocols are assured, observed, and enforced by outing leaders as well as members themselves. Extra masks, spray disinfectant and sanitizer are available from the outing leaders.

Please note that the Tri Valley Fly Fishers accepts no liability for inadequate protection or the transmission of Covid-19 among members or guests.  Therefore, each member should review the following protocols that the Club subscribes to and make an individual decision of whether to participate in an activity or not, based upon their individual circumstances and personal safety.

TVFF Outings protocols are as follows:

·         If you are sick with cold/flu symptoms then we ask you to please stay home

·         All attendees should drive up and back alone unless you are in mutually agreed social bubble where both parties have been tested negative and agreed to the risk (such as family members)

·         On all outings the Club will have available and use an Infrared Thermometer temperature checks

·         We believe in social distancing and require that all members keep a full fly rod distance of at least 6’ distance between parties

·         We ask that all parties wear masks if within 6’; even if only briefly.  Note that the CDC has not recommended the use of buffs or gaiters as the material is not thick enough for adequate protection.

·         Everyone will be responsible for making, bringing, and consuming their own separate food and drinks

·         When camping all members and guests are required to use separate camping tents or rooms, when hotels are arranged

·         Please handle your own gear (and your own fish!) only.  No sharing for doctored fish pictures.

·         In the event that there are common surfaces (i.e. car surfaces, door handles, etc.) please wipe them down with sanitizer or hand wipes

·         All attendees should wash and sanitize their hands frequently
