Introduction to Fly Fishing Class - 6 Total Sessions

Tri-Valley Fly Fishers will offer the popular Fly Fishing Fundamentals Class beginning on October 9, 2024.  This class is taught by experienced club members for new and prospective members, and especially for those beginners just starting their fly fishing journey.

No equipment is necessary for participation in this class as the Club has sufficient rods and reels for beginners to use.

The course objective is to educate and prepare new fly fishers to the sport with sufficient depth to enable each attendee to fully enjoy the sport and begin to effectively fly fish on their own in both streams and lakes.

The course consists of six sessions including four classroom sessions on Wednesday evenings (October 16,  October 23, November 13, and November 20), a 3 hour casting instruction on Saturday, October 19, and an on stream practical session with instruction TBD.  The first class will take place on Wednesday, October 13, 2024  at the Livermore Rod & Gun Club.

The Fundamentals of Fly Fishing Class includes, at no additional cost, basic casting instruction by a TVFF member. The casting instruction will occur on Saturday, October 19, from 8:30 AM to 11 AM. Casting rods, reels, fly line and leaders will all be available to borrow, if students need them for the class.

There is a Saturday practical session on the water at a location and date TBD.

TVFF membership is required to participate in this class.

A minumum of 6 students is needed to hold this class.

TVFF Cancellation Policy:

To sign-up for a TVFF Event that is currently open for registration and chargeable (as set by the Fishmeister), you must both register and pay online, or via check or cash, within two weeks of registering (sent to the TVFF Treasurer) whatever fee is described for that particular Event (trip) at the time of registration. There may be multiple payments required before the trip is actually taken (usually in the case of expensive trips), but it is necessary that you do make payment in the above timely fashion for the initial amount to secure your position on the trip. However, please note that you are still responsible for the entire amount of the trip if you should need to cancel.

Once you are registered, there are no refunds for chargeable Events and trips.  In the situation that a member is, for any reason unable to attend, they may resell their registration slot to another TVFF member (by first pulling from the waitlist if one exists).  New participants must come first from the waitlist in the order they signed up.  The member cancelling is fully and solely responsible for contacting potential members to replace them and notifying the appropriate Fishmeister.

If an event/trip is fully registered and closed to registration, you may still sign up on the Wait List to be notified if there are any cancellations.  In such a case of registering provisionally on the Wait List, you do not have to pay until such time that you clear the Wait List and are confirmed for participation.
