Event Description:  Ascension Bay, Mexico 2025

I’ve been talking to Tiziano Rizzotto who runs the lodge with his partner Pascale, both awesome anglers, about our club fishing with them next spring. He’s sent a special offer for TVFF.  If we take over the lodge from April 30 to May 7 next year (7nights & 6 days fishing).  The price for 10 anglers would be $34,100 or $3,435 per person (includes $25 to TVFF).  The lodge accommodates 10 anglers. It’s built in a “U” shape around a courtyard. The air-conditioned guest rooms are on the first floor and a large open room comprises the second floor with areas for dinning, sitting (with comfortable furniture), exercise and kitchen.

The fish principally targeted are bone fish, permit, and small tarpon. Of course there are others, some of which we caught last month are barracuda, small shark, lady fish, snapper, snook, small grouper and others. Gear is 8 to 10 weight equipment for targeted species. 12 or 14 weight for migratory Tarpon (personally they’re just too much fun for me).

The package includes:

  • 6 days guided fishing – 2 guides and anglers to a boat
  • Room, great food, drinks including coffee in the early AM, soft drinks, cocktails, wine, and beer.
  • Transportation to and from the Cancun airport.
  • Water transport the last 28 miles to Ponte Allen rather than van over a very, very very (you get the idea), rough road.
  • Daily maid service for the rooms.

Does not include:

  • Tips for guides and staff
  • Transportation from your home to and from Cancun
  • Overnight stay in Cancun

We need to secure the reservation with a non-refundable deposit of $12,500 ($1,250 per angler) before August 15, 2024 and the balance by February 1, 2025. Currently we have 9 people interested in this outing and filling fast.  The wait list is a great option as additional slot may open up, with the possibility of a second week.

Because of past problems, all participants must have travel insurance covering medical and the cost of the lodge and I suggest including and luggage coverage.

All participants must have a signed club waiver on file accompanying the down payment.

If you have any question don’t hesitate to contact Martin Plotkin.

Cost: $3435 per person

Cost per person includes all food, beverages (as described above) and single occupancy accommodations, not including airfare,  overnight stay in Cancun, and guide tips. Payment for this outing is broken up into a down payment and final payment.

Initial Non-refundable Deposit:

The cash cost is $1275 ($1250 + $25 outing club fee).  Payment by check or cash directly to the Club Treasurer.

If you do pay cash you will be put into "Pending Registration" until your payment is received within the two weeks.

Final payment will be arranged upon lodge receipt of the initial down payment.

Fishmeister: Martin Plotkin

Accommodations and Food: All lodging (single occupancy) and  cooked food is provided.

Gear and Tackle Recommendations:

To be sent out via email later to all registrants.

TVFF Cancellation Policy:

To sign-up for a TVFF Event  that is currently open for registration and chargeable (as set by the Fishmeister), you must both register and pay online, or via check or cash, within two weeks of registering (sent to the TVFF Treasurer) whatever fee is described for that particular Event (trip) at the time of registration. There may be multiple payments required before the trip is actually taken (usually in the case of expensive trips), but it is necessary that you do make payment in the above timely fashion for the initial amount to secure your position on the trip.  However, please note that you are still responsible for the entire amount of the trip if you should need to cancel.

Once you are registered, there are no refunds for chargeable Events and trips.  In the situation that a member is, for any reason unable to attend, they may resell their registration slot to another TVFF member (by first pulling from the waitlist if one exists).  New participants must come first from the waitlist in the order they signed up.  The member cancelling is fully and solely responsible for contacting potential members to replace them and notifying the appropriate Fishmeister.

If an event/trip is fully registered and closed to registration, you may still sign up on the Wait List to be notified if there are any cancellations.  In such a case of registering provisionally on the Wait List, you do not have to pay until such time that you clear the Wait List and are confirmed for participation.
