Event Description: Introduction to the Yuba River Skwala Hatch
This Club developed session is to prepare members for the current and upcoming Skwala hatches on the lower Yuba river in January through March. The course material consists of Skwala hatch entomology, suggested flies, recommended rigging, local maps, and successful fishing techniques, as well as local guide tips.
The Skwalas begin hatching in early January and are known as the first big bug hatch of the year and last until the end of March. They can occur, weather dependent, in large populations of both dry flies and hatching nymphs that attract large fish in the Yuba, including Steelhead.
Class Curriculum:
Session will focus on Skwala identification and hatch progression. It will also include typical dry flies and nymphs to fish (with recommended vendors), leader and tippet rigging, Yuba river maps and recommended places to fish, and suggested techniques for successfully fishing the hatch with nymphs and dries.
Registration and Costs:
Cash price: $25 You may pay by check or cash directly to the Club Treasurer within two weeks of registration and not pay the credit card surcharge of 3.0% if you desire. If you do pay cash you will be put into "Pending Registration" until your payment is received within the two weeks. Late payments will require you to register once again if there is space still available. The cost for this class is $25
Credit Card price: Price of $25.75 includes the payment by credit card with the 3.0% surcharge.
