I just saw this article and the up-coming blog.  It triggered me to reflect me upon the recent California heritage trout challenge a number of us in the club took on.  When the angler takes on these challenges, they are exposed to areas they normally would not visit and be exposed to amazing beauty.

Some of you are aware there are other challenges out there, the Cut Slam, Nevada challenge, the Western challenge, and many others.  Each of these challenges target specific fish and regions.  These challenges have rules and specific requirements, and this is appropriate.

Well here comes another odyssey, going for 50 fish in fifty states.  This has peaked my interest, mainly it is pure in the intent of angling.  Personally it re-births a drive back to the roots of my angling journey.    Not so much on the drive from species or particular drainages.  It is the kid with a hand me down rod with a half filled spool with twisted line finding any piece of water and giving it a try.  Not knowing what might be lurking under the surface, just looking for the tug and the splash.

I am looking forward to reading this adventure and believe some of our fellow club members might do the same

I am excited about this new challenge. The range and variety is for someone with considerable time to drive the West. What better way to see the Western mountains and wild areas.

What year for getting started is my first thought, 2020 to start, why not?
