So recently I was inspecting my sink tip line and found a few cracks and frays near the end loop. The remaining section of the line was in good condition. So being the frugal person I am, I wanted to salvage the line. I do not like Nail or Albright knots to my leaded as they tend to hang up on the rod eyes. So I started looking at a way to build in a new loop after I cut off the damaged section of line.
This what I found to work for me. I cut an angle on the end of the line, 2 to 3 mm. I wrapped the line back around forming about a 10mm loop. I left another 10 mm tag end. I used my fly vice to hold the loop and began wrapping the tag end to the main line. I continue continuously wrapping the line from the loop end to the end of the tag making sure no voids or skips. Finishing off the rapping with a whip finish and a touch of " soft UV glue ". The glue aids in securing the knot and also creates a smooth encapsulation of the end section of the loop.
I tested the loop and seems to be secure. I will update the page as to the longevity of this modification. Also if you have any suggestions on other ideas please share.
